Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet

  • The Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet engaged Data Knowhow's Lisa Cornish to deliver a range of graphic design and data visualisation services to support:

    1. The creation of a gender pay gap information guide

    2. In-house data reporting tools

    3. Visualising the outcomes of a trust in government survey.

  • Data Knowhow's Lisa Cornish worked with the client to understand design standards in the organisations, including tools that were accessible in-house, ensuring that solutions developed could work with these systems and be managed independently.

As staff had capability using Power BI, Lisa developed static and interactive reports and visualisation using this tool. Lisa Cornish used appropriate colours, styles and icons to match corporate schemes, and for the gender pay gap product was able to develop a version that produced a high resolution PDF output meeting accessibility requirements as well as an interactive tool that can later be embedded in the Department website.

The Power BI workbooks were provided in a template format that can be modified for other purposes.

For internal needs, in-house tools were developed using Power BI to enable user-friendly access to demographic data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics and enable PMC staff with access to information that can support Minister requests and policy development. All Power BI tools developed were tested with users and modified to support their needs.

  • The Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet implemented an internal data reporting tool to facilitate policy development and insights. This formed the basis for further work using Power BI to support a range of programs, including for emergency responses.
