Tourism Research Australia

  • Tourism Research Australia provide critical information on the impact of domestic and international tourism to Australia's economy. It was important for TRA to provide new ways to deliver more and better insights to stakeholders.

Power BI had become available for use within the organisation, however there was limited capability to deliver the data and insights required. Data Knowhow's Lisa Cornish was engaged to deliver this support.

  • Lisa worked with the client to understand branding requirements, develop a data visualisation guide, and templates for interactive reports in Power BI. As portrait templates were required to be embedded in their website, desktop and mobile templates were needed.

Lisa developed a range of interactive reports that could be updated by staff monthly, quarterly, or as required. To improve staff capability, Lisa provided documentation and training to improve capability.

  • Power BI visualisations developed have improved the range of information TRA can deliver to stakeholders. Staff have improved their capabilities in the use of the product, developing their own tools by following the standards and practices they have been training in. Stakeholders, including their Minister, have commended TRA on these improvements.
